Slapjack Block holds the very first vines ever planted in Bannockburn. It sits on a sun drenched, north facing slope of glacial schist gravels, and Terra Sancta consider it the pinnacle of what they do.
The wine is silky and complex, with deep cherry and plums and a herbal lift. Complex layers of lavender, some wild thyme and violets are well integrated with fine tannins. This wine has real length and is well worth cellaring for a few years. If you can't wait, then throw it in a decanter to really let it open up.
James Suckling called it perhaps t.he greatest Pinot Noir he has tasted in New Zealand and gave it a rare 100 points.
