Shingle Beach is the most delicate of Terra Sancta's three single block Pinot Noirs, grown on a densely planted limestone block right on the edge of the Kawarau River. The close planting and limestone and schist soils give the fruit real purity and tension.
It's an elegant, finely detailed wine with bright red berry character, fine grained tannins and a long, silky finish. Wild fermented and handled gently to let the site shine through rather than the winemaking.
James Suckling scored it 99 points and called it an incredible wine with superb presence and intensity.
