Nga Waka Chenin Blanc 2025

Another first for Nga Waka. This is their debut vintage of Chenin Blanc, grown on the Mike Kershaw block and made with a good stretch of time on lees plus a small portion aged in old French oak. Winemaker Paul Mason is the same man behind the Mason Hidden Vineyard wines, so there's some serious Martinborough pedigree behind this one.

It's crisp and properly dry, with apple, pear and mineral notes plus a saline edge and a touch of white flowers. A good backbone of acidity makes it fresh and food friendly. Like the Gamay, this is a small first release, so stock won't hang around.
