Estate Argyros Atlantis White Blend

A beautiful aperitif and fish white from the Greek Island of Santorini. The Atlantis offers a softer version of the austere Assyrtiko grape, here blended with two other local grapes into a house style now gaining an international reputation on sheer quality for value. Even this 'entry-level' comes from vines of 60 years, grown on their original rootstock in the old Santorini style (low circular basket shapes to protect against the hot Island's harsh wind and sun). Thanks to natural acidity the wine emerges lemony and stoney-fresh, with effortless mineral cut, complexity and harmony. 

Thymiopolous Atma Red Blend

A tremendous wine for the money from Apostolos Thymiopolous, one of the most revered winemakers in Greece. This one is a blend of Xinomavro from Naoussa and Mandilaria from the island of Santorini. The Xinomavro grapes are dried outside for 3 days, which softens and concentrates the flavours and, as a result, the wine has a depth and complexity that you rarely find in an everyday red.

It is a soft, smooth wine with bright red fruit flavours - juicy strawberries, blackberries and pomegranate - and fresh spices and white pepper.   

A great introduction into Greek wines with both of these wines being approachable and easy drinking examples.
