Domaine de la Solitude Chateauneuf du Pape 2022

Domaine de la Solitude has been growing grapes in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape since 1720, and is now managed by an 8th generation wine maker.

This wine mainly Grenache Blanc and Clairette, with Roussanne for weight and a touch of Bourboulenc and Picpoul for acidity and lift. 2022 was a low yeilding vintage due to some hail but what made it into the bottle is genuinely excellent: plump and full-bodied, with pineapple and citrus flavours running through to a long, textured finish.

On the nose you'll pick up orange zest, fresh almonds and some slight floral notes.  The palate has great balance between richness and a saline freshness alongside complex tropical fruit flavours, pineapple, roasted nectarine and lime.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and James Suckling both scored it 93/100, Decanter gave it 92.  This is a special white wine that is definitely one to try!
