Two outstanding Australian wines, showcasing Aussie Shiraz but with a difference.

Yalumba Hand Picked Shiraz  - From Yalumba, Australia's oldest family-owned winery and the Barossa's great champion of Viognier, this is a classic Rhône-style pairing of Shiraz which has been co-fermented with a splash of Viognier. The 2023 is impressively perfumed, cranberry, raspberry, wood spice and violets. Medium-bodied with mouth-watering acidity that captures the brightness and cool of the Eden Valley.  Matured 14 months in French oak. Elegant, fresh and a genuine crowd-pleaser.  A lovely one for Dad.

Paisley 'Boombox' Shiraz - A big, bold Barossa Shiraz from Paisley Wines. The label of Derek Fitzgerald, who named it after his 90s love of dance parties and DJ mixtapes (he used to burn CDs for mates, signed "Mixed by DJ Deadly").

Inky and dark, it's got loads of black fruit, chocolate and vanilla, with savoury smoked meat and coffee bean underneath.  This one is a full bodied style with a good long finish. Proper Barossa value.
